Shura shares new single, ‘Just Once’
London newcomer is a Shura-fire bet for success - listen to her deadly, honest new single.
London songwriter Shura’s only two songs into her stride, but new single ‘Just Once’ doesn’t take long to stand out in a crowd.
Deft chords and softly-softly percussion are deceiving. Behind the veneer of cool, this Shepherd’s Bush resident is being painfully blunk. “If you get my name wrong, I won’t get pissed off, ‘cause I wish I was somebody else,” she matter-of-factly states above dreamy sequences. The whole song’s about a relationship that’s on its hopeless, last legs. Throughout, the subject matter isn’t shunned one joy - Shura’s not afraid to spell out the grim details.
‘Just Once’ follows up ‘Touch’, which came out earlier this year.
