South London’s Shame return with news of fourth album ‘Cutthroat’
The band have also shared the record’s blistering title track.

South London’s Shame have returned with news of a blistering new album, ‘Cutthroat’, and have shared its fierce title track to boot.
Set to follow on from their 2023 release ‘Food For Worms’ - and its predecessors, their 2018 debut ‘Songs Of Praise’ and 2021’s ‘Drunk Tank Pink’ - the quintet will release their fourth full-length on 5th September 2025 via Dead Oceans. Produced by the Grammy-winning John Congleton, the fiery new album promises to be a pure distillation of who Shame are as a band. “This is about who we are,” the band’s Charlie Steen has said. “Our live shows aren’t performance art - they’re direct, confrontational and raw. That’s always been the root of us. We live in crazy times. But it’s not about ‘Poor me.’ It’s about ‘Fuck you’.”
“It’s about the cowards, the cunts, the hypocrites,” he goes further. “Let’s face it, there’s a lot of them around right now.”
To accompany the new of the record, the band have also shared its lead single of the same name; a stomping, groove-flecked track that heralds self-defiance with a cheeky wink. “I was reading a lot of Oscar Wilde plays where everything was about paradox,” Steen explains. “In ‘Cutthroat’, it’s that whole idea from Lady Windermere’s Fan, ‘Life’s far too important to be taken seriously’.” Watch the surreal video for ‘Cutthroat’ - which comes directed by Ja Humby and sees the band decked out in some intriguing paraphernalia - below.
As well as announcing details of ‘Cutthroat’, the band have also announced a slew of live shows, including what’s sure to be a sweaty night at Brixton Jamm tomorrow night (Wednesday 4th June). Their massive headline tour will kick off in Paris in late September, before concluding with a huge London show at the end of the year.
