Speedy Ortiz have shared a new acoustic demo of ‘Basketball’. The song originally appeared on the Massachusetts band’s 2012 ‘Sports’ EP.
The raw, stripped back version of Speedy classic ‘Basketball’ forms part of Carpark Records’ upcoming Sweet Sixteen release. Timed to coincide with the label’s sixteenth anniversary, it’s a basketball-themed picture disco with music from Carpark artists including Memory Tapes, Toro Y Moi and Young Magic. Speedy Ortiz frontwoman Sadie Dupuis has also contributed another song, ‘Theme from Babadook’.
The anniversary LP is out on 21st of July in a run of 600 copies. The label is also releasing a USB drive designed by Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bundick. All profits from the release go to Little Kids Rocks - a U.S. charity that funds music education in schools.
