Stage Collapses At Pukkelpop, Deaths Reported

A stage has collapsed during a flash storm at Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival, with official reports claiming three people have died, eleven are seriously injured and sixty more have been taken to hospital.

Early reports from the Associated Press suggested at least four people were killed, while Belgian media outlet De Staandard reports that six people have died.

Smith Westerns were about to perform when the stage crashed to the ground during a storm. Singer Cullen Omori tweeted ‘Stage collapsed max almost got crushed by the tress. I hope pukkelpop has insurance bc all our s—- is broke.’ Cullen later followed with ‘Praying no one got hurt. Wtf.’

The collapse follows similar events across the summer, with stages falling at the Ottawa Bluesfest and a Flaming Lips outdoor show in Oklahoma as well as fatalities at the Indiana State Fair earlier this month.

It is expected the rest of the day’s event will be called off.
