A Trump-free zone
“It’s going to be awesome music,” says Nick Valensi about the new Strokes album
Guitarist jokes to Zane Lowe that “Donald Trump is producing” the record.
This Friday (28th October), The Strokes’ Nick Valensi releases his first album under new project CRX. Ahead of the release and in conversation with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Nick also revealed a few more details about a potential new Strokes record.
“It’s the five of us and all our issues,” he told Zane. “It’s going to be awesome music. Julian [Casablancas] is psyched about it. He’s very moody so if you have him psyched about music it means we’re on the right track.” Referring back to this year’s ‘Future Present Past’ EP, he told Zane that those songs were initially intended for a full-length. “We started to make a record and then thought, ‘Well these songs are good, so let’s just put these three out.’ Maybe we’ll do it again.”
Asked about who’s producing the next Strokes record, he joked: “Donald Trump is producing.” Just imagine.
Earlier this month, Nick told DIY the group were “slowly but surely” working on a new album. “We’re writing. I’m actually in New York at the moment, at a studio in New York for that.”
