Sun Machine unleash a psych-pop storm with ‘The Loudest Of Them’
Gunning for the top and yet starting from the ground up, the group are premiering their new single on DIY ahead of an Amersham Arms residency.

Grappling with modern immediacy and vintage haze, there’s a tug-of-war in everything Sun Machine put their name to. Previous singles have pinned this lot as spiritual successors to any number of classic psych-rock acts, but with new single ‘The Loudest Of Them’ - premiering below on DIY - they’re gunning straight for the top.
The Flaming Lips, UMO, Gengahr, Peace - the touch-points are clear, but there’s a confident voice that carries Sun Machine through. ‘The Loudest Of Them’ wraps itself in all levels of influence - from 60s pop, to 90s bagginess, to the bobbing waves of the River Thames, upon which the track was recorded - things are soon skyward, though, with a clear dedication to gut-punching melody and a chorus that’d make even the hardiest chart-botherer quake in their boots.
It comes ahead of a residency at The Amersham Arms in New Cross, south-east London, which’ll see the group stake monthly nights in the dingy bar’s back room from November 12th. Chart-reaching immediacy and a do-it-yourself, toilet-circuit approach - Sun Machine’s heady cocktail is an impressive one. Stream ‘The Loudest Of Them’ below - it’s released on November 13th via their own label, Twin Egg.
