Super Furry Animals return with unofficial footy anthem ‘Bing Bong’
First song in seven years will back Wales’ Euro 2016 charge.

Super Furry Animals are back! The Welsh gems have returned with ‘Bing Bong’, a Welsh-tongued, unofficial Euro 2016 song to support their home nation’s quest in next month’s footy tournament.
It arrives the day after Manic Street Preachers shared Wales’ official Euro 2016 song, a very-to-the-point number about how Gareth Bale is better than Jesus.
Speaking to The Line of Best Fit, the band’s Cian Ciaran (synths, guitars) says they wanted to make a “Furrys and a football song in one.”
“I think we managed it,” he says. “It’s not the most obvious song, but it kinda hits the nail on the head - it’s got the chants, it’s got the tempo changes like you get on the terraces, it’s got a singalongability.”
Fair play, chaps. It doesn’t contain the “HAL! ROBSON! KANU!” chant of the Manics’ effort, but it makes up for that omission in many other ways.
‘Bing Bong’ will be released physically via 12” on 17th June.
Both Manic Street Preachers and Super Furry Animals play Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on 28th May.
