Sweet Baboo has shared new track ‘Wild Imagination’
It’s the title tune from the Welsh songwriter’s upcoming new album.

Boombox balladeer Sweet Baboo – aka North Wales native
Stephen Black – announced that his new album ‘Wild Imagination’ would be out on
2nd June a couple of weeks ago.
Designed as a kind of antidote to the turbulent times we’re
living in (it was originally going to be called ‘Positive Recordings’), Stephen
also shared the sweet, lo-fi first single ‘Badminton.’ Now he’s given us more
of an idea of what to expect from the new record, revealing the title track, an
upbeat number filled with vintage electronic percussive beats that may or may
not have been done on a Casio and twinkling, arpeggiated synths.
Speaking of the new track, Stephen said: “I’m hoping
that the sentiment of the song is pretty universal. As with a lot of this
album, I wanted to convey the same sense of hope and joy I feel when I listen
to Robert Wyatt or Arthur Russell singing. Musically, I love the mix of
Jeff Lynne acoustics, cheap drum machine, Talking Heads keyboard riffs and
Wings guitar licks and the middle eight is lifted straight from the Euros Childs
songbook.”
