The Horrors share third ‘Night Life’ preview ‘Lotus Eater’

It’s nearly two decades since the beloved band began, and this will be their first album to not feature all five original members.

The Horrors share third 'Night Life' preview 'Lotus Eater'

Ahead of the arrival of their sixth album ‘Night Life’ (out on 21st March via Fiction Records), The Horrors have given us another taste of what to expect in the form of new single ‘Lotus Eater’.

It follows previous releases ‘The Silence That Remains’ and ‘Trial By Fire’ to be the third track previewed by the band, and, as they’ve explained, “has had several past lives”. Continuing, they have shared: “It was one of the first songs from the ‘Night Life’ sessions that we felt really excited about - Rhys’ original lyric had a feeling that made me think of ‘5 Years’  by David Bowie, and I started to build on the idea.

“A lotus eater lives in a state of blissful ignorance, and the song to me describes the moment of coming back to reality. We wanted it to have a feeling of both melancholy and euphoria, letting go of the past and starting again.”

‘Night Life’ is set to be the first Horrors album in nearly twenty years to not feature all five original members; instead, the cult favourites are back with a changed lineup made up of founding members Faris Badwan (vocals) and Rhys Webb (bass), and new recruits Amelia Kidd (keys) and Telegram’s Jordan Cook (drums).

The LP will act as a follow up to The Horrors’ 2021 EPs ‘Against The Blade’ and ‘Lout’, and was brought to life between Webb’s North London home and producer Yves Rothman’s (Yves Tumor, Blondshell) LA studio.
