The Jesus and Mary Chain hint at possible new album

This year, The Jesus and Mary Chain are playing a series of huge festival where they’ll showcase seminal album ‘Psychocandy’ in full, 30 years on.

Alongside the anniversary shows, the legendary group have revealed plans to keep things going with new material. “There will be an album,” they’ve confirmed.

Jim Reid told NME recently: “We’ve got the material, we’ve talked about doing an album for so long now. We are kind of coming round to being in agreement, which is a bit weird for us. There will be an album — we will get it together. I’m more convinced now than I ever have been that there will be a new Mary Chain album.”

He added that the “kids are a bit older and I’m kind of in the middle of a divorce, so it seems like a good time to get the hell out of town.”

The Jesus and Mary Chain take to a UK tour this month. Following that, they’ll play Bilbao BBK Live - DIY is partnering up with the 2015 fest.
