The Juan MacLean remix Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Our Love’

Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Our Love’ is the sweet, drifting highlight of her ‘Are We There’ LP, a spacious, emotionally upbeat number that probably wasn’t expecting to find itself in these surroundings: NYC duo The Juan MacLean have flicked a switch, placing it in a spiralling synth setting.

Spanning seven and a half minutes, the whole piece builds into a momentous stride. Van Etten’s vocals remain at the heart, but they’re part of the climb, with Juan MacLean and Nancy Whang shifting the original into slick, future-gazing territory.

This week’s seen the release of ‘In A Dream’, their third studio album. It’s out now on DFA Records.
