The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr turns superhero, thwarts pickpocket
In other news, that new Strokes record is coming along nicely…
Most days, Albert Hammond Jr lives a straightforward existence, as guitarist in The Strokes. Sometimes, though, he transforms into a crime-fighting superhero; stopping would-be pickpockets in their tracks and turning them over to the police.
That’s more or less what went down when he clocked a thief trying to nab his wife Justyna’s purse. Cornering the robber, and taking back his stuff in a clip from a nearby security camera, Albert Hammond Jr later remarked “oh wow, I did get angry, didn’t I?”
Meanwhile, their guitarist’s Batman-esque antics aside, The Strokes have been busy in the studio. Frontman Julian Casablancas let the cat out of the bag at a Washington D.C. show earlier this year. He also recently released a new collaboration with Savages’ Jehnny Beth - a cover of ‘Boy-Girl’ by Sort Sol, ft. Lydia Lunch.
