Thom Yorke worked with Oxford students on ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ release

Last month’s surprise Thom Yorke album release ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ was strategised with the help of Oxford University students, it has been revealed.

The Radiohead frontman put out his second solo album via BitTorrent, with a purchase giving fans access to a download batch containing all eight songs, artwork plus a video for ‘A Brain in a Bottle’.

A Billboard report has explained how Yorke came to work with students from the Said Business School.

“It was immensely useful to have the input of the MBA students on data analysis and new marketing strategies. They produced a thorough and insightful document,” said Yorke’s team at Courtyard Management, who look after the artist. Yorke himself grew up in Oxford alongside Ed O’Brien, Philip Selway, Colin Greenwood and Jonny Greenwood.

Within the process, students were also asked to conceive potential strategies for a future Radiohead album.
