TIDAL drops out of the top 700 apps in US download charts
More bad news for Jay Z et al, as Spotify and Pandora make gains into the top five
TIDAL has dropped out of the top 700 apps chart in the US download charts.
According to The Independent, a review of the charts on Monday 20th April found that the app is producing fewer downloads since the launch of service. TIDAL was briefly in the top 20 after Jay Z and his backers launched the service, but it has dropped further than the investors would have liked or predicted.
The review also states that Pandora and Spotify now occupy number three and number four positions in the chart, the first time that two music streaming apps have been in the top five simultaneously. The Independent state that, “Spotify’s resurgence in the iPad chart began on the day of TIDAL’s launch last week, suggesting that in spite of its criticism of the app, TIDAL ultimately just increased public awareness of Spotify.”
