Titus Andronicus have released a new ‘Grandma friendly’ remix of ‘Fired Up’
That’s the crowd-pleasing Christmas playlist sorted, then.
When you’re thinking of bands your typical Grandma might enjoy, it’s fair to say that - unless you’ve got a granny who rides a Harley-Davidson around town, and has a Slayer tattoo - Titus Andronicus might strike as a little too heavy. Luckily, the band have just released a new reworking of ‘Fired Up’ from their recent record ‘The Most Lamentable Tragedy’. It’s ‘Grandma friendly,’ apparently. Just don’t tell Noel Gallagher that.
Trading in the rabble-rousing riffery and opera-pomp of the original, the band’s new ‘Fired Up’ remix starts life with synthetic strings, and jaunty pounding of pianos. It wouldn’t sound out of place soundtracking a dramatic cliff-side camera swoop in a BBC wildlife documentary, or the final scenes of a gritty Christmas period drama. Patrick Stickles’ growl is still intact - the only potential un-granny friendly aspect of the whole thing - but otherwise, it’s fairly unrecognisable.
