Troves air brand new track, ‘Afterthought’
Brighton trio up the intrigue factor with just their second track to date.
Brighton’s buzzing with activity at the moment. There’s a pack of excitable, D.I.Y-or-die bands from the city with various members interchanging roles in the likes of The Magic Gang and Abattoir Blues. And in the pure-pop stakes, the promising Fickle Friends can now be joined by specialists in pristine, emotive songwriting: Troves.
The newly-fledged trio shared their debut track, ‘Youth In Decay’, last month. ‘Afterthought’ is their second number, and it lands somewhere in between heady electronica by way of Jon Hopkins, and direct-to-the-extreme expressions that have more in common with modern day chart-botherers.
Whereas ‘Youth In Decay’ came backed by house keys and a bittersweet sense of euphoria, this one’s more to-the-point with its emotions: Think Broods with more tear-strewn tissues, this is the sound of a band finding their feet under the spotlight.
Listen to Troves’ new track below.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
