Twin Shadow streams new track ‘Turn Me Up’

George Lewis Jr.’s new album is anticipated for 2015.

Twin Shadow has returned with a new track, ‘Turn Me Up’. Streaming below, George Lewis Jr.’s yet to confirm whether or not it’ll feature on a new album, the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Confess’.

Departing from his last LP’s overblown ‘80s pop, ‘Turn Me Up’ is dramatically more contemporary. Giving nods to R&B and slick experimental pop, it’s defined by careering bass wobs and distant, sadness-dripping synths. Best of all is Lewis Jr.’s vocal, pitch-bent to a strange constant.

The track was posted alongside a description, saying: “I think it’s important to let people take what they need from songs instead of explaining too much about what they mean for me personally. But my friends keep asking, ‘Turn me up’, what’s that mean? I keep saying, Take more from me. Ask more of me. Give me more back. Stop fighting against the things you want the most.”

A new album is due out in 2015 via Warner Bros., although ‘Turn Me Up’ is also tagged as 4AD on Soundcloud.
