Vampire Weekend Aim For End Of Year Release

Vampire Weekend have revealed that they hope to release a new album by the end of the year.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Ezra Koenig commented that “it would be cool if it was [released] this year.”

He also told the site: “I always want to release music as soon as possible, but more and more I’m realizing it’s something you almost have no control over. We just never want to be in a position [where] when we put out something, we feel could’ve benefited from more time.”

He also added that the band have a ‘ton of stuff’ lined up for the next album.

Vampire Weekend released their last album ‘Contra’ in January 2010.

The news follows on from the recent announcement that member Chris Baio will be releasing his debut solo EP on the 21st May.

‘The Sunburn EP’ will feature three tracks - one of which is a collaboration with Kompakt’s Matias Aguayo - and gets released through Greco-Roman under the guise of Baio.

1. Sunburn Modern
2. Anonymity 1
3. Tanto (feat. Matias Aguayo)
