Vampire Weekend’s Chris Tomson is going solo as Dams Of The West
The sticksman’s announced his debut solo album, ‘Youngish American’.
Another day, another Vampire Weekend side project. This time it’s drummer Chris Tomson, who’s going solo under the name Dams Of The West.
His debut album, ‘Youngish American’, is produced by none other than The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney. The big show-off. Set for release this autumn, it’s being led by ‘Death Wish’ and its charming lyric video - “Please stick around to see my incredible fitted sheet folding technique @2:49” Chris asks, awfully politely. And it is pretty incredible, in fairness.
Directed by his wife Emily Tomson (cute), watch the ‘Death Wish’ video below the tracklisting for ‘Youngish American’. If that’s not enough ex-Vampy Weeks music for you, dive into Rostam’s link up with The Walkmen’s Hamilton Leithauser, and if it’s real life Vampire Weekend you’re after, you might not have to wait long.
