Neu Pick:
Hull punks Vulgarians unveil ‘Almost-Instinct, Almost True’ EP
The MJ-produced collection is today’s Neu Pick.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Vulgarians.
Alongside LIFE, Hull punks are flying the flag for Britain’s latest City of Culture, Hull, and spearheading a new generation of vicious punk coming from the city.
They’re prepping to release their new EP, ’Almost-Instinct, Almost True’, produced by MJ at Suburban Home in Leeds, and we’ve got the first spin on DIY.
Across its three tracks, the collection leaves nothing behind - opener ‘Of Humdrum Consumption’ is a lot easier to digest than its title, a searing rush of barely audible yet hugely impactful vocals.
‘Career Dietary’ slows things down a notch, before ‘Hands Around The Waste’ sends the EP off in a majestic march to the underworld.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
