Watch footage of Blur playing ‘Trouble in the Message Centre’ live for the first time “In twenty years”

The track was performed as an encore during Blur’s ‘The Magic Whip’ album show

Yesterday (March 20th) Blur performed their upcoming album ‘The Magic Whip’ in full to a crowd of fanclub members. The run through the record, the band’s eighth, was filmed for a special ‘as live’ broadcast next week. However fan footage of the only non-Whip track played, ‘Trouble in the Message Centre’ from 1994’s Parklife, has found its way online. “We haven’t played this for twenty years so we might be a bit rusty,” warned Damon Albarn.

The gig at London’s MODE was the second of the day for Blur, who played a similar show a few hours earlier to an audience of friends and family - the first time the band have been on stage since their 2014 tour of Japan, on which ‘The Magic Whip’ was written.

Blur have been announced as the fourth headliner at this years Benicassim Festival and will also be playing a headline show at London’s Hyde Park alongside Metronomy, Drenge and The Horrors on 20th June. The band have promised warmup shows in Wales and Scotland ahead of these dates.
