Watch: Majical Cloudz Unveils ‘Bugs Don’t Buzz’ Video
Giant cockroaches rule the roost in this new Majical Cloudz clip.

Devon Welsh’s Majical Cloudz project has shared one of the most harrowing, tension-inducing videos of the year with ‘Bugs Don’t Buzz’. These creepy crawlies certain don’t buzz. More, they rule the world. Giant cockroaches survey the scene, crawling on trees in a smartly-arranged set, made to look as if they’ve become giants.
Sidenote: Who knew cockroaches were so acrobatic? Have you ever seen one fly? As bugs go, they’re pretty underrated.
On the video, Devon had this to say, to NPR.
“I wrote a short treatment that described some of the shots that we eventually used in the video. Specifically the image of the bugs crawling around in miniature sets was something that I thought could be really cool. The scale of the sets allows the camera to depict the bugs in a completely non-human world. The rest of the imagery followed from the original concept of trying to remove humanity from the video’s frame of reference. [Director] Gordon [von Steiner] ran with that concept and developed all of these amazingly alien scenes. Together, I think we hope it paints a picture that is abstract but clear in its emotional intentions.”
Majical Cloudz’s ‘Impersonator’ is out now via Matador.
