Watch Mazes and Samoans perform live at Cardiff Dr. Martens #STANDFORSOMETHING gig

See videos of the bands playing ‘Salford’ and ‘The Moth’ respectively.

The other week saw Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach play host to the second Dr. Martens #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour 2014 in association with DIY, with headliners Eagulls bringing their insistent post-punk (and projector screens complete with eyeball-splitting gory videos) to the legendary venue. You can watch Eagulls’ performance of ‘Yellow Eyes’ from that night over here, and read up on what went down - with photos - over this way.

Main support came from indie kids Mazes, whose driving, krautrock-inspired rhythms and clever melodies - not least those from latest LP, ‘Wooden Aquarium’ provided a suitable counterpoint to the headliners’ aggressive intensity.

First on were local boys Samoans, who were days away from being nominated for this year’s Welsh Music Prize for album ‘Rescue’, and warmed the crowd up with some mathy stop-start post-rock.

See performances from the pair - that’s Mazes with ‘Salford’ and Samoans’ ‘The Moth’ - below.
