Neu Pick:
WEIRDO + CO present the lush ‘Count Me Out’
Josh Christopher’s new single is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from WEIRDO + CO.Previously just operating under the name WEIRDO, Josh Christopher has recruited friends Pierre Leck and René Corbett for the next age of his project, suitably now titled WEIRDO + CO. The trio’s new cut ‘Count Me Out’ is one with sorrow at its core.“Breakfast in bed, you eat but nothing is said / because the voice in your head keeps saying ‘I wish you were dead’” isn’t the cheeriest of starts, but it’s laid out under a bed of gorgeous twinkly guitars before blooming into a big, bright pop song.Talking of the track, Christopher says: ”For me, 2017 is about being a fucking weirdo and embracing it… it’s about not being tied down as a monotonous, conveyor belt artist; there are so many samey-same artists and an artist is meant to have the freedom to embrace his or her creativity. Most people follow trends, most people stick to a sound that tires after a few releases… it’s not about that. It’s about getting your point across vocally, and indulging in pleasing the fans; it’s about them, not the latest trend. I’m a weirdo. I never feel the same thing twice a day. That shows in the music…”Listen to ‘Count Me Out’ below.
