Earlier this week Wolf Alice finally announced plans to release their debut album ‘My Love Is Cool’ this June and, well, it’s safe to say they’re excited about it.

Having spent the last few months hard at work on their first full-length, it was with a sigh of relief that the four-piece were able to announce its first details. Now, unsurprisingly, they’ve got their minds fixed on getting it out into the world.

“I think this might be the most excited we’ve ever been,” the band’s Ellie Rowsell revealed to DIY, before jetting back off to the US to continue with their current North American tour. “We’ve been thinking about this moment for a long time, years now, and it definitely feels like the time is right. We’ve made the best record we can, and we just want people to hear it and enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed making it.”

Following on from their incredible ‘Creature Songs’ EP, which was first unveiled midway through last year, we’re already aware of the band’s powerful tendencies. From the aggressive grunge of the EP’s first half to its more tender second side, the four-piece already feel to have honed their talents, but if Rowsell has anything to say about it, this album is going to see the band going more than just that extra mile.

“I think we’ve learnt to be braver in our decisions, in our writing and our production,” she assures. “We’ve not thought about genre, just gone with our gut and recorded the songs we liked the most to the best of our current ability.”

As for the first taste of the record, ‘Giant Peach’ is an incendiary beast, which soars and crashes, builds and explodes into life. “It’s kind of a few ideas merged together,” she shrugs, “we just wanted something heavy, jammy, dancey and passionate. It’s probably our favourite to play live and I hope that comes across in our deliverance on the recording.”

Wolf Alice’s debut album ‘My Love Is Cool’ gets released on 22nd June through Dirty Hit Records.
