Kojey Radical - Don’t Look Down
4 StarsAn artist in total, delightful control of his craft.
2025 has already introduced wise, varied and exciting personal stories by peers including Little Simz, Loyle Carner, and Kae Tempest, and on this second full-length ‘Don’t Look Down’, Kojey Radical stands tall among them. It’s an album which intuitively pulls together myriad seemingly opposing polarities, in particular live recording and elegant electronic beats, and possesses a lyrical tone that tilts from confident to uncertain, and nostalgic to forward-looking, with immaculate precision. Moody head-nodder ‘Long Day’, the string-laden ‘Life Of The Party’, and the anthemic, Afrobeats-indebted ‘Comfortable’ are particularly noteworthy cuts from this expansive second album from an artist in total, delightful control of his craft.
