Snocaps - Snocaps

At once nostalgic and enchanting.

Snocaps - Snocaps

Halloween is, of course, a time of tricks and treats, but few expected this gem to be handed out as a release on All Hallow’s Eve. Named rather appropriately for an American candy (think the opposite of pick’n’mix fave white chocolate jazzies), the surprise full-length from new “supergroup” Snocaps - aka Crutchfield sisters Katie and Allison, with a little help from MJ Lenderman and Brad Cook - is as delightfully satisfying as you’d imagine. Reuniting for their first official project together since their teenage band PS Eliot broke up in 2011, this self-titled offering is a well-worn, comforting reminder of both their prowess and dedication as musicians (and siblings), bearing more than few fingerprints of Waxahatchee (‘Wasteland’, ‘Cherry Hard Candy’) and Swearin’ (‘Brand New City’). Across its 13 tracks, there’s a chemistry that can come only via years of experience and companionship, and the result is an album that feels at once nostalgic and enchanting.
