AlunaGeorge - Supernatural
This might just be a science after all.
Dramatic change isn’t required to start a chemical reaction. On their first new track for just over a year, AlunaGeorge document how they “create a science that we make / a perfect innovation / so close to real, you can’t tell it’s fake”, and in a flash it seems like they’ve struck gold on their own well-crafted formula.
On 2013 debut ‘Body Music’ they didn’t fall short - this was a first work crammed with genre-meshing chart-botherers - but ‘Supernatural’ takes things up a notch. Bass notes are more pummelling, Aluna Francis’ vocals exerting a greater command - and it’s all built around the kind of lyric-less synth hook that would’ve stolen the show on their debut.
If ‘Body Music’ existed in the VIP area of a club, ‘Supernatural’ goes centre stage. This might just be a science after all - twelve months out the game, AlunaGeorge still remain peerless in crafting hook-tastic, dancefloor-alighting alternative pop.
