Thank goodness that can’t be said about the associated song. Prime bait to anyone wanting to throw a Dylan reference (we’re going to google once we’ve finished editing this, but we’re betting we can find at least five - Ed), ‘Souled Out’ stands up with anything from the shh-don’t-call-him-Bright-Eyes back catalogue, and possibly betters a large chunk of it.
Possessing a certain quality, there’s nothing massively special about it, granted, but try and convince yourself it’s not the kind of track that you’ll still be hearing on some US online college radio station in three years time and you’ll be sorely disappointed. Then again, it is Conor Oberst.
