Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip - Letter From God To Man

Even for those of us to whom studying poetry isn’t a full-time occupation, it’s easy to see that ‘Letter From God To Man’ would work pretty damn well as a piece on its own; it flows well, there’s enough in there to make you think - and keep you thinking, and there’s even a smattering of humour. Whether we’re supposed to smirk at Scroobius Pip’s ‘God’ proclaiming ‘we don’t hate ya!’, we do. If we had a God, we’d want his: he’s right.

So, add to that a cleverly placed sample from Radiohead’s ‘Planet Telex’, and the hint of introspection felt by even the most God-resistant type (or perhaps, conversely even the most God-fearing), and there’s enough introspective emotion floating around to take down an entire university’s Philosophy department. OK, not really, but it’s a nice idea, and at the very least, it’ll leave you putting down your iPhone for a second to ponder the state of the universe, and what we - and generations before us - have done to fuck it all up royally. And not even just in someone else’s name. As a misplaced hippy might say: ‘WOAH, deep’.
