Dog is Dead - Glockenspiel Song

There’s so much more oomph to what Dog Is Dead are doing, and it’s paid off.

Over two years since its original debut, Dog Is Dead are re-releasing a vamped-up version of the fantastic single ‘Glockenspiel Song’. Those of you with a half-decent memory and terrible television taste may also remember it as ‘that one that they played on Skins that one time.’

Listening to both versions, it’s easy to see how Dog Is Dead have grown and developed over the last couple of years. The jazzy saxophone and soaring harmonies are still intact, but there’s an added layer of breeziness, just in time for picnics in the sunshine. Robert Milton’s vocals are clearer and, well, just plain better, as are the moments of choral harmonies. As the once standout line shouts out from under the main vocals, “We are a mess / we are failures / and we love it,” you can’t help feel that there’s so much more oomph to what they’re doing, and it’s paid off.

Dog Is Dead have finally unveiled the title of their debut album, ‘All Our Favourite Stories’, and just on the back of ‘Glockenspiel Song’, it’s probably safe to predict that it’s going to be a massive hit.
