Goat Girl - Country Sleaze

On the London group’s debut single, every jab of noise feels like a stab in the neck, every lyric packed with venomous undertones.

With every slimy, charged-up chug of guitars, Goat Girl sound closer to the ugly truth. New track ’Country Sleaze’ is one half of a debut single on Rough Trade. The other half is titled ‘Scum’, for those unsure whether or not this London four-piece like to bathe in the gutter.

Produced by Margo Broom, ‘Country Sleaze’ trades slime for gold. The deeper and darker Goat Girl go, the more exciting this first step sounds. Drum parts are defiantly tinny, guitars dragged across the ground looking for scraps. “I am disgusted and ashamed of this so-called human race,” they bark, staggering between lines like a politician six pints deep in a Westminster local. Every jab of noise feels like a stab in the neck, every lyric packed with venomous undertones. It’s early days, but Goat Girl are already alive and kicking.
