For the past five years, the only moans and groans concerning Jamie T have been anguished expressions triggered by his reclusiveness. When Jamie T came back from the dead with ‘Don’t You Find’, however, a couple undeservingly materialised in the form of fears over his transition, stemming from the kind of squares that munch on medium cheddar-cheese all day long and wildly shush anyone who does so much as breathes during a film. Any questions that had arisen, however, have been drowned-out by new moans and groans - but this time fantastic ones, deriving from the flesh-covered gobhole of ‘Zombie’ - an absolute monster of a pop song.
With a twee acoustic guitar intro giving-way to a ghoulishly fun hunk of eerie guitar hooks, frenetic rapping and a serious contender for the coveted Bridge Of The Year, it glides head-first into an apocalyptically sized chorus to rival any that he’s ever penned before. Lyrically, it almost mimics the moments of growing-up that involve feeling like an extra in a cheap-as-chips zombie flick, wandering around gormlessly without direction or intention; but in a highly-endearing way, cackling at itself as it shuffles along. After all, if Jamie T’s new track really was a undead flesh-eating creature, it’d be so damn charming that offering up juicy brains on a platter would be the only reasonable response.
