Kisses - People Can Do The Most Amazing Things

This little low-profile release grows on you after a few listens with its underdog charm.

A band called Kisses? With a single called ‘People Can Do The Most Amazing Things’? Sounds like a right load of shiny happy hippie crap, non? Well to be perfectly honest Kisses are on the verge of sounding like Fleetwood Mac (gross) with Phil Collins on vocal duties singing ‘The Streets of Philadelphia’ (worrying) which equates to some sort of lofty Europop 80s power ballad (what?).

However, in their defence one has to admit that this little low-profile release grows on you after a few listens with its underdog charm. It’s all tinkly melodies and the song itself has a dreamy quality with Jesse Kivel’s (of Princeton fame) crooning voice. It’s a chilled out positively harrowing slow-burning summer anthem.

‘People Can Do The Most Amazing Things’ is in equal parts sleek and simmering 80s electro twinned with Saint Etienne like power keyboards and lyrical geek-pop. In the shelf this would sit under chillwave. Some people might like that.
