Lightships - Sweetness In Her Spark

Teenage Fan Club singer, bassist and songwriter Gerard Love is back with a new project that comes in the form of Lightships. Consisting of a sought out cast of Glasgow-based friends; Dave McGowan (guitar, Teenage Fanclub), Brendan O’Hare (drums, Teenage Fanclub), Tom Crossley (flute, International Airport and The Pastels) and Bob Kildea (bass, Belle & Sebastian), the group is sure to make waves in the coming months.

‘Sweetness In Her Spark’, is the latest single from their debut album, ‘Electric Cables’. Moving delicately and tenderly, a sort of warm hug in the form of music, the single has the echoes of summer and hazy days. The breezy groove and atmosphere, free flowing and radiant holds a sense of purpose in every note.

The complex yet simple sounds provide a personal touch to the track, an easy listen, burning slowly, but purposefully, it has all the ingredients for a brilliant single. A cracking start to what we are sure is a bright future for Lightships.
