Visions Of Trees - Sirens

London-based electro pop duo Visions Of Trees created quite a buzz earlier this year with their debut single ‘Sometimes It Kills’; now they need to follow up that initial promise with something more substantial. This is the challenge facing vocalist Sara Atalar and keyboardist, and all round electronic guru, Joni Juden with their second single ‘Sirens’.

While Visions Of Trees’ debut was a much more slow burning, brooding piece of electronica, ‘Sirens’ sees them going straight for the pop jugular. Jittery, glitchy break beats underpin the track until the whole thing explodes into a hugely addictive exuberant chorus.

Sara Atalar’s vocals are supremely assured and her sweet sugary voice is a perfect counterpoint to the punishing and powerful beats and stabbing synth blasts. There is a great contrast here between very overtly hook filled pop and inventive and interesting electronica. It’s always great to hear a pop single that is both hugely addictive and genuinely exciting.
