are back from a long stint of, well, not very much in the past two years since ‘Strange House’ hit the shelves.
After a long while off, the black clad wearing five piece return with a new album, ‘Primary Colours’, and a new single, the Neu! sounding, shoe-gazing seven-minute masterpiece that is ‘Sea Within A Sea’. A new direction has found The Horrors take on a more mature sound; more electronic, bass heavy and psychedelic. No longer are they just ripping off The Birthday Party and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
The transitions in the song make it what it is, non stop bass followed by the dark echoing sounds of guitarist Joshua Third combine beautifully into a synthesised keyboard section. With ‘Sea Within A Sea’ The Horrors have found a sound they have seemed to of always known they were going to create, and with the hype the album is creating, something special is surely in sight.
