Jungle aim for the stars with packed Glastonbury set

Glastonbury is a place where bands can move up a level with the right performance. Click into the right groove and all of a sudden you’re heading for the stratosphere.

It’s not as if Jungle didn’t already have enough hype in their rocket packs, but that’s exactly what they did during their early afternoon set on the John Peel stage.

Speaking to DIY about their live shows as part of this month’s cover feature, Jungle’s Josh and Tom “didn’t want to let ourselves down by bringing samplers and just being producers” - “If someone bought a ticket to a Jungle show, we wouldn’t go and put a film on. Do you know what I mean? Fans are important. We’re new to having fans. It’s shocking that people do turn up to shows.”

And turn up they did. Concentrating on getting a slightly muddy but packed crowd moving, from singles ‘The Heat’ and ‘Busy Earnin’’ to new album cut ‘Julia’, pulling an audience so large without a full length out yet further marks them out yet again as quite possibly the most exciting new band around today.
