Neu Pick
St. Tropez strut into the spotlight with ‘Son of God’
Storming track comes mixed by Spring King’s Tarek Musa.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from St. Tropez.
Amsterdam band St. Tropez are masters of their craft. Back in June, they played a free DIY Presents night at London’s Old Blue Last, stepping out like wantaway Eurovision contestants who somehow became rock stars. Every hook was delivered with purpose, each swaggering step more extreme than the last.
There’s plenty more where that came from. On the rough and ready ‘Son of God’, they give a glam touch to straight-up rock ‘n roll, mixing talk of being “unbelievers” with religion-shunning hedonism. Like previous efforts, the track comes mixed by Spring King’s Tarek Musa - the surest seal of approval required for amped-up goodness these days.
‘Son of God’ is released on 13th November - it’s premiering on DIY below.
