DIY Sound Of 2012: Poll Results
We asked our readers, writers and contributors to tell us who they were tipping for 2012. These are the results.

Chances are you’ve already seen the BBC’s Sound of 2012 longlist today - if not, you can find it here. With nods to everything from Frank Ocean to Skrillex, Friends to Azealia Banks, it has provoked much ‘discussion’ online. So much so, we wanted to know what you’d do differently.
We asked our writers, contributors and readers to nominate their top 3 acts for 2012. The nominations had to stick to the same rules as the BBC poll, to keep things fair. After receiving Quite A Lot of entries, we’ve tallied up the results to work out a 15 strong long list.
Your picks share six artists in common with the BBC list (namely Azealia Banks, Frank Ocean, Friends, Michael Kiwanuka, Niki & The Dove and Spector). Those which didn’t make the ‘official’ list include King Krule, Icona Pop, Fear of Men and Gross Magic.
The DIY list in full reads:
Azealia Banks
Breton
Fear Of Men
Frank Ocean
Friends
Gross Magic
Icona Pop
Jessie Ware
King Krule
Michael Kiwanuka
Niki & The Dove
Outfit
Spector
