Premiere: Shunkan Previews Debut EP With ‘Wash You Away’
Say hello to Art Is Hard Records’ exciting new signing, Marina Sakimoto.

20-year-old songwriter Marina Sakimoto is currently based in New Zealand making music under the Shunkan moniker, but don’t expect this to stay the same for long. ‘I’m constantly in a state between worlds,’ she admits, in one of many confessional lines taken from the breathless ‘Wash You Away’. Memories are stains, according to this song, which builds something undeniably beautiful out of a lo-fi aesthetic.
Shunkan is a Japanese translation for the word ‘Moment’, and this artist seems explicitly concerned with living in the present day. The rush of energy from a sudden wake-up call or a spontaneous trip out of the city; it’s these strange sensations that mimic ‘Wash You Away’.
‘Wash You Away’ is taken from a debut cassette EP out on 28th April via Art Is Hard Records.
