Preview Visions Festival 2016

Young Fathers head up a bill that also features ESG, Pumarosa and Yak.

Returning for a fourth year, Visions has cast its net wide as it prepares to once again take over Hackney this weekend. It’s a bill that promises to tickle the fancy of the most eccentric genre-hoppers; while the Visions hand is strengthened yet further with Black Metal Yoga sessions and - DIY’s personal favourite – the Visions Dog Show. Get down early to catch some of 2016’s hottest buzz pups get judged on their tricks, their tails and their Bowie fancy dress.

Having set out their stall with an accomplished set at Latitude just a few weeks ago, Pumarosa’s opening slot at St John at Hackney is sure to set many-a-punter’s day off right, before The Japanese House looks to cement her live credentials over at Oval Space shortly after. Elsewhere early in the day, you can also catch Ulrika Spacek and ‘Hello 2016’ favourites Babeheaven, the pair of them pitching at different ends of the haze-spectrum at Moth Club and Mangle respectively.

The afternoon is set to witness carnage in various forms too; Mykki Blanco appears ahead of the release of a long-awaited debut LP next month, there’s grime in the form of Lewisham High Street’s Golden Boy, Elf Kid, and New York riot-starters Show Me The Body return to London after debut UK dates earlier in the year.

One of the biggest draws of the day comes in the form of fellow New Yorker’s ESG – the iconic Scroggins family are still going strong, and promise to bring heaps of fun to St John in their sub headline slot, before we get ourselves in a right pickle picking a favourite between Gengahr, Yak and Young Fathers to round off the day.
