Featuring Warpaint, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wild Beasts & More.

There’s a new issue of DIY out today in our usual stockists (and available to read online), with LA’s Warpaint on the cover. It’s clear that Warpaint can’t imagine doing anything else - moving onto their second, beautifully produced record, no other band could replicate their Joshua Tree sessions, or indeed the subtle interweaving of electronics and affected guitars that defines their new album. They’re a band completely in their own zone, and it takes guts to continue doing what they’re best at. Joining Warpaint in the new issue, Bombay Bicycle Club are another group shunning the idea of making any dramatic departure from previous records. Still, new album ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow’ is their bravest, biggest record yet; it’s the sound of them going global. Wild Beasts are putting their first foot forwards too, finding their bite and claws to return with their fiercest album to date; the political, truly daring ‘Present Tense’. There’s also Danger Mouse and James Mercer - aka Broken Bells - on how collaboration saved their collective bacon. Cheatahs talk us through their assault on punk and You Me At Six emerge against the odds, back from the brink after cutting themselves free of crippling business ties. Again, another band clearly happy with taking risks. Mogwai link up as a group stating “we’ve always tried not to repeat ourselves”, all rounding off an issue that consists almost entirely of daredevils. In News, there’s interviews with Angel Olsen, Against Me!, Howler, I Break Horses, Brody Dalle, Maximo Park and Albert Hammond Jr.Neu gets excited about Painted Palms, Menace Beach and Honeyblood. And in reviews, DIY gives its verdict on the latest records from Beck, Katy B, Big Ups, Temples & many more.
