Alvvays to play DIY Presents London show this August
Toronto band release their self-titled album this July via Transgressive.
We’re delighted to announce a new show taking place this August at London Birthdays, headlined by the brilliant new Toronto band Alvvays.
The Molly Rankin-led five piece release their self-titled debut album via Transgressive on 21st July. It was produced by Chad VanGaalen and follows on from standout sets at this year’s Great Escape Festival, Brighton.
“Canada’s not famous for its Copacobana-esque seaside resorts, but somehow the five-piece have channelled the chilled-out, hazy laze and general lackadaisy of spending days on end down on the sound with bestest pals,” reads DIY’s recent Neu profile on the band.
Recent tracks ‘Archie, Marry Me’ and ‘Adult Diversion’ are perfect indications of what to expect - breezy, sun-drenched rock ’n roll. Catch up with the latter below.
The show takes place on 5th August. Tickets are priced at £5, available here. Doors open at 8pm - this is an 18+ event.
Alongside the DIY Presents date, Alvvays are playing a London Rough Trade East instore, followed by an October UK tour with Real Estate.
