Andrew Scott stars in moving video for Sam Fender’s ‘People Watching’
Be warned - it’s heart-wrenching.

Sam Fender has teamed up with BAFTA winning actor and everyone’s favourite priest Andrew Scott to create a new video for ‘People Watching’, the title track of Sam’s hotly-anticipated third album (due out on 21st February via Polydor Records).
As soon as it arrived back in November last year, it was clear the Springsteen-esque song was an anthemic and emotionally resonant all-time great addition to Sam’s discography, its moving lyrics a homage to his late friend and mentor Annie Orwin, inspired by his visits to her palliative care home near the end of her life.
Now, Andrew Scott’s turn as the protagonist of its accompanying video makes the track’s message of love, loss, and appreciating every second even more powerful, as we see his character connect with strangers, drown out loneliness, and attempt to outrun grief.
“Sam’s masterpiece of a song has become a true friend to me,” Andrew has said of his involvement with the project. “Working on it was truly cathartic, and I’ll always be grateful to Sam for his extraordinary talent, and for the other artists who made this film, and of course to my mum, who I will hold in my heart til the day I die.”
You can check out the heart-wrenching video for ‘People Watching’ below (we’d recommend having tissues on standby…).
What’s more, Sam will be bringing ‘People Watching’ to stages around Europe this Spring (accompanied by the ever-brilliant CMAT) before crossing the pond for a run of US shows, after which he’s due to tear up the stadium and festival circuit throughout the Summer.
£1 from every ticket sold for Sam’s stadium shows (in London and his native Newcastle) will be donated to organisations working to support the arts in the North East. Check out his full 2025 live schedule below.
