Animal Collective are heading back into the studio later this year

“It’s safe to say that some time this year we’ll record,” confirmed Panda Bear, speaking to Lauren Laverne earlier today.

Fresh from releasing ‘Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper’, Noah Lennox dropped by BBC Radio 6 to chat to Lauren Laverne today. Panda Bear also played a live session, bringing ‘Boys Latin’ and ‘Acid Wash’ to the radio waves. Lennox talked Daft Punk collaborations, fatherhood and cooking during the show - he’s “terrible” at it, apparently

Panda Bear also confirmed that he’ll be going back into the studio with Animal Collective later this year. When Laverne asked him if the band would be recording the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Centipede Hz.’ he responded:

“Yeah, I’ve spent the past 5 weeks or so furiously trying to crank out stuff, and I’m sure Dave [Portner, Avey Tare] is doing the same. I’m sure all of the guys are working on stuff. No concrete plans to go into the studio as of yet, no dates or anything, but I think it’s safe to say that some time this year we’ll record.”

Head here to listen to the entire show, complete with live renditions of ‘Boys Latin’ and ‘Acid Wash’.
