Panda Bear and Sonic Boom team up for second joint album ‘A ? of WHEN’
It won’t be available on streaming services, either: “from here on in we’re getting back to a place of real connectivity”.

Panda Bear and Sonic Boom - aka Noah Lennox and Pete Kember - have announced that their next collaborative album, ‘A ? of WHEN’, will be hitting shelves on 10th July via Domino. And we mean that literally: available on vinyl, CD, cassette, and download (via Domino Mart and Bandcamp), the LP won’t be on streaming services at all.
The follow up to their 2022 joint debut ‘Reset’, ‘A ? of WHEN’ promises to be a playful, gleefully experimental ten track affair, taking in harp loops, steel drums, a Mexico City mariachi band, and even yodelling.
To mark the announcement, the LP’s title track is available to download now; the record will also feature recent new cuts ‘Graveyard’ and ‘Lucky Charm’, which were released back in April as a special Record Store Day 7”.
Speaking about their decision to ditch streaming services, the duo have said: “Change. Exciting & frightening at the same time. The slow slips & the big shifts. Highs & lows from the distraction of connectivity. AI slop becomes an AI slope. Algorithm tables & algorithms tumble. We’re taking things a little off piste. More rock n’ roll than flick & scroll…
“From here on in we’re getting back to a place of real connectivity […] there’s no streaming, no videos, and a minimisation of online everything. Going forward we’re looking to radio, live shows, listening parties, Q&A sessions & real life interactions to get back to a place we feel makes more sense. To that end, we’re asking you to join us offline, outside of social media. To meet us in the real world. IRL not URL…”
