Antony & The Johnsons, Laura Marling Added To Wilderness Festival

Antony & The Johnsons will play their first UK gig since 2009 at Wilderness.

Also confirmed today for the festival are Gogol Bordello, Laura Marling, Toots & The Maytals, Guillemots and Hayseed Dixie.

The event aims to ‘bring together music, food, learning, literature and rejuvenation among the lakes, forests and parkland of Oxfordshire’s exquisite Cornbury Estate,’ and will be held from 12th - 14th August.

Tim Harvey, Wilderness Festival organiser, says: ‘The organisers have really focused their curatorial powers on creating experiences and activities that are designed specifically for the Cornbury Park site. In many cases, these performances and happenings just wouldn’t be possible anywhere else.

When we started, we wanted to broaden out the established offering of most festivals and introduce many more cultural, lifestyle and artisan aspects to the event – the kind of programming that the Edinburgh Festival, Hay-on-Wye and Taste of London have become so renowned for.’

The line-up will also include:

The Old Vic Tunnels – curating a full program of theatre & performance, including the Tax Deductible Theatre Company
Skye Gyngell – the Michelin-starred chef who has cooked for the likes of Madonna, Mick Jagger and Mario Testino, will join acclaimed London restaurant:
Moro, to curate banquets for 800 people every day
Intelligence Squared - the world’s leading forum for live debate
The Idler – British magazine, devoted to the ethos of ‘idling’
Bristol Institute of Natural History – leading nature walks and talks
Headspace – the ‘meditation project’ leading meditation workshops in the Well Being Area
