Slow and steady

Arctic Monkeys are in “no rush” to make a new album

Don’t get too excited - follow-up to ‘AM’ is a long way off.

Arctic Monkeys are in “no rush” to make a new album

Don’t expect a new Arctic Monkeys album anytime soon. Alex Turner claims there “aren’t really” any immediate plans for a follow-up to 2013’s ‘AM’.

Midway through a tour with The Last Shadow Puppets - which doesn’t look to have been a tame, sober experience - Alex spoke to Radio X about future Arctic Monkeys material.

Asked if there were any plans set in stone, he replied: “No, there aren’t really, Not yet. But there will be at some point. I mean, we’ll see with that. No rush.”

Lips are sealed, then. Alex has been busy touring the world with Miles Kane. Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders hasn’t stayed quiet either, joining Iggy Pop’s band for the legendary musician’s ‘Post Pop Depression’ album and tour.

The Last Shadow Puppets’ latest run will be coming to an end soon, though. Turner said: “The plan was to end [Last Shadow Puppets] at the end of the summer, and I think we’ll stick to that.”

They play London’s Alexandra Palace on 15th and 16th July.
