Black Honey drop third single ‘Insulin’ ahead of new record ‘Soak’

Black Honey have dropped a brand new single, titled ‘Insulin’, which was premiered this afternoon on BBC 6 Music.

The new pop-rock track is an enticing third snapshot of their forthcoming fourth record, ‘Soak’ (coming on 15th August), and follows their two brilliant recent cuts, ‘Psycho’ and ‘Dead’.

‘Insulin’ was, apparently, written in a pure stream of consciousness by vocalist Izzy B Phillips: “For ‘Insulin’ I wanted to explore tension, romantic dysregulation and the idea of being out of balance in your mind and body chemicals,” she has explained.

Originally the song’s title was just a placeholder, before Phillips decided it was spot on for the track. “I thought the word “insulin” wasn’t actually right when it first fell out of my head - maybe I was thinking more about serotonin at the time - but then found out it’s a hormone we all have that regulates your blood sugar and is directly affected by your emotional wellbeing. It was kind of accidentally accurate so I kept it.”

The band will also be going on an album release tour to celebrate ‘Soak’, stopping off at venues in the likes of London, Liverpool, their native Brighton and more.

You can hear ‘Insulin’ for yourself and find the full list of Black Honey’s upcoming tour dates below.
